Ghazaal La'li

Ghazaal La'li is an Iranian Architect, Project manager, and photographer, who was born in Tehran, in 1993. She studied Interior Architecture at Sooreh University and holds a master of construction & project management from the Pars University of Tehran. She started her professional career in Arash G Tehrani Design Studio in 2014 and worked on several projects, which gained international attention and honored in several awards, such as 2A Continental Architecture Awards in Madrid, and Middle East Architecture Awards in Dubai, and Mirmiran Awards in Tehran. Besides architect, she has founded an advertising photography practice called Diman Photography, and also collaborated as the committee secretary in Iranian Interior Architecture's Society.

I am an Architect and a painter with over twenty years of professional experience in Poland and abroad. Assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology, active member of IARP and SARP. Inspired by Kenneth Frampton's Critical Regionalism, in my work I pay particular attention to design deeply embedded into the context and local conditions. I am fascinated by the space that affects the users through all their senses and shows construction solutions as an integral part of the architectural aesthetics. Thanks to my design experience in very different cultural circles, I seek in modern architecture a response to the need for identity and a sense of being rooted in a dynamically changing world. I am interested in an unconventional approach to the process of creating an architectural concept. I believe that each generation of young architects can bring vitality, energy and unique ideas to this beautiful profession.

My architectural philosophy consists of finding the right balance between being innovative,responsive, financially and enviromentally aware, in order to make good architecture accessible to all.

My Design process consist of 3 things:

  1. Understanding the context 
  2. Responding to the user needs
  3. Exploring new ways of resolving issues from the first two points

I believe Architecture should be pushing its boundaries and that each building should not just be a functional structure but a unique answer to a social, a contextual or even an economical problem.

My research and teaching investigate the multiple identities of the landscape, focusing on the environmental challenges with a design research approach based on transformation through adaptation and innovation.

By paying attention to the unity of human, nature and architecture in my designs, I aim to produce creative ideas that will solve the complexity of daily life and transform architecture from a concrete block into a living organism. In this direction, I completed my 4-year education at Balıkesir University Faculty of Architecture for the period of 2017-2021. Within the scope of compulsory internship, I completed my 30 working days office and 30 working days field internship. I deserved to get a C1 level certificate in the foreign language exam (English) and spent 4 months and 15 days in Poland/Krakow with the Student Exchange Program.
