Project description

ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The building is oriented to maximize solar access and good light. Clerestory windows and skylights will be used throughout the building to provide additional solar access and good daylight. Solar panels are proposed to provide a supplementary source for power and night light. The system will be designed to be self-sufficient.
Water for main operational uses within the building will be sourced from well water provided by the council. Grey water can be used for toilets if accessible to the authorities. Water for external uses such as water features and irrigation will be sourced from underground tanks, fed by run off. Permeable materials are proposed for most external areas to ensure surface absorption and collection.

CONCEPT
The concept is extracted through the logic of simplicity. The simplicity in architecture is to get rid of complexity and reduce it down to what’s required by people. The people focuses on goals rather figuring it out. Celerity and simplicity is…
- Easy to understand
- Easy to do
- Plain in design
- Uncomplicated in design
Less is MORE ‘’Ludwig Mies Vander Rohe’’

IDENTITY
The entire building has been shaped using local materials. Afghanistan is a mountainous country, the capital Kabul is surrounded with various types of mountains and stones, thus the use of local accessible materials besides creating a sustainable energy efficient design will create a sense of belonging for users either.
