Fabian Reiner is an Austrian architect who is currently pursuing a postgraduate Masters degree in History and Critical Thinking at the Architectural Association in London. He published in various magazines, including trans (ETH), blank (Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien) and FuZine (Ljubljana Biennial of Design), and exhibited at USI Mendrisio as well as the Museum für Gestaltung, Zurich. Architecture is an art and science of creating spaces that inspire, soothe or heal.
I am an architectural designer at BuildX Studio, a lecturer(TF) at the University of Nairobi and an Aspen 2020 fellow. I practice, teach and conduct research on architectural design innovation to bring sustainable economic, social and environmental development to Kenya and beyond. Most recently I was the Kenyan lead researcher for the 2020 Guggenheim-NY exhibition with Rem Koolhaas, OMA, and the Harvard GSD.
My architectural focus is born from the sensations generated by a space. Whether open or closed, the interior and exterior factors are ordered and controlled by the design generating a particular atmosphere. The architecture must transmit something, and that something is decided by the architect, when it is relevant and well executed it becomes a great design.
