Project idea

The goals for this competition is to create a sustainable design which is both functional as well as pleasing to the eye. Also it pays respect to the surroundings blending well into the built fabric yet still maintains its own individuality.

Project description

The project is inspired by the saying "less is more" and uses it as its core by representing the welcoming merger of two countries by taking an element from each country such as bricks from Ethiopia and glass from Czech and presenting them in a combined unified form of buildings which are surrounding the visual axis leading towards the visual representation of the union of the two countries which is the flag poles standing proudly in the representative garden.

Technical information

The main materials used in the project are brick and glass. All the buildings have two parts. One half masonry construction and the second half glass facades.The project uses column, slab and beam system as its main structure system for masonry part while for the glass part of the building the walls have framed glass while the roof has frameless glass. The frame for walls as well as the supporting frames underneath the frameless glass on roof is made of aluminium.
