Project idea

The main project idea is creating a homogeneous space with the environment, with subtle, slow, but effective transformations in key elements of the project, which result in a slightly distorted, heterogeneous system.

The idea consists of resolving the main differences between an embassy project, and any other project which includes thinking of space as uniting, by manipulating simple spatial elements that are the key to a closed functioning system which goal is separation, but with a full potential of communication and networking.

The system is observed as a part of the context, by form, and an individual by program.

Project description

The space is created within the center of an imaginary crossroad of the two big streets in the location. It develops from the center to the boundaries, with distortions in the positioning, creating specific orientations for every function in the embassy, and characteristic ambience for every user of the building.

It is connected to the three surrounding streets, with the main entrance from the south, ambassador, and residence for the embassy staff entrances from the east, and consular and local workforce entrance from the north.

All parts include separate parking spaces.

AMBASSADOR’S RESIDENCE is private, and secluded, oriented to it’s private garden, but connected to the representative part of the residence, which has a different orientation and it’s own garden.

RESIDENCE FOR THE EMBASSY STAFF is consisted out of different apartments included in the program and assignment, also oriented towards their own garden.

LOCAL WORKFORCE BUILDING is isolated by a newly planed driveway, and oriented to the other side.

CONSULAR AND VISA BUILDING is partially isolated, so visitors do not have to enter the plot.

And the OFFICIAL BUILDING is designed with big, small, closed and open representative spaces, including the main hall with the atrium, the restaurant (kitchen and dinning room), the lounge connected to the upper left garden; and the assembly room with it’s own representative garden.

On the upper and right side of the official building are the OFFICE SECTIONS, separated on different floors.

Technical information

Project includes different simple materials.

Roofs are formed at a specific angle which directs the sunlight where it is needed, and shade other parts.

Usable surface of the buildings is 2894m2
