Project idea

My project took place in Bucharest, in its old town region. The site is next to
Hanulsolacoglu historical inn. The mission was to revitalize the region by creating
an urban dynamo. After analyzing the area I found that it suffers from being an intensive urban area without any breather. It also seems to be in a monotonous urban tissue which make people flow passing by really quickly.
The approach was to create a paradox which can meet the requirements and address the problems of the site.
An isolated space among the crowd which people can relax at, and an outstanding building where people will stop at and
experience.
The organic nature of the streets added a strong presence into the site, and the variety between spontaneous development
process by the people and planned process by the city in the area inspired me to involve people in the spontaneous process of
creating their own spaces. Another challenge was the historical texture which is existing because of the inn, which I found that some contrast would emphasize it.

Project description

Bucharest has more than 5000 homeless child, the function of my building would be a model of integrating public space, entertainment activities with spaces
for homeless children to learn, stay, play and have the opportunity to enjoy their lives.
I integrated Hanulsolacoglu with out site to turn the abandoned building into a vital hub. and connecting the inner courtyard of the inn to the streets indirectly by a bridge penetrating our site, meanwhile under that bridge, there will be an exhibition area of the products which will be made in the workshops created for the homeless.

Technical information

The building will be using steel and glass, beside cladding materials.
