Project idea

Nowadays we are living in a plastic era. The basic idea is to deal with the waste we are producing. Garbage is composed mainly of plastic products which we cannot completely recycle and which are therefore considered to be waste. When it comes to waste disposal, the biggest problem arises in open landscape, because of its changing natural character. By recycling and sorting plastic products, we will be able to use them as construction material. These are the main thoughts which resulted into our project “Plastic Crystal”.

Project description

We have elaborated the project from the basic idea until the project and implementation part including a detailed explanation of the materials being used or regarding the connection of joints. In order to be able to produce building material from plastic, we have made the plastic recycling machines ourselves.

Technical information

For the Crystal skeleton we have used a wooden structure, since wood is considered to be a cheap, light and natural material. The foundation of the Crystal is placed on ground screws, therefore the Crystal is levitating above the ground. The Crystal base has a hexagonal shape. The roof is made of collapsed surfaces with two fixed roof windows. There is also one large window, which can be easily opened, located opposite to the entrance. The Crystal also has a second floor. The wooden structure is covered with recycled plastic sheets from the outside and closed with plywood from inside.
