Project idea

The smartphone has now become an inseparable part of our lives. From waking up to going back to sleep, when you are anywhere, anytime we always don't miss playing our smartphone. Behind our habits which almost every day cannot be separated from the smartphone, it has a negative impact which is quite astonishing for our physical and psychological health, for example, making youths spoiled and lazy. With the smartphone in the hands of youths and teenagers then they will not pay attention to surroundings. They are too enjoyed playing their phones until they forget the time.

To reduce problems arising from excessive smartphone use, it is important to create a forum for discussion and gathering for adolescents to improve their social spirit and critical thinking skills among them. As more and more teenagers visit the mangroves tracking area in Kendari City, this place is the most suitable location to be built a Youth Discussion Center.

Project description

a building about 130 square meters by providing a discussion room and multipurpose room to gather teenagers and develop their creativity. Not only that, but this building also does not have a partition between spaces so that space can be fully open. By adding mangrove trees between buildings, the building can synergize with mangrove and create harmony. This building uses the concept of biophilic architecture with the aim to accommodate humans to feel comfortable and increase productivity. Therefore, activities can also contribute to the environment naturally. The structure of the building adapts to the tracking of mangroves, that is using portable foundations, and for facades using a lattice from Conwood product, an alternative building material made from a mixture of cellulose and fiber cement. Part of the wall using a used board from a boat that is not used or wrecked. For roof cover material using zinc metal from a shipwreck, so that boats which have not been used in the Kendari Bay, can be used in this building.
