Project idea

My Final Major Project: Synaptic Sanctuary envisions a ‘fourth place’ in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, a calm refuge from the city’s pace. Rooted in neuroarchitecture princples it responds to the users emotional needs, blending wellness and creativity. A fluid space for reflection and renewal that balances public and private spaces, fostering connection, clarity, and personal transformation. Drawing inspiration from synaptic connections and neural oscillations the interior becomes an experience that adapts to its user’s.

Project description

Whether it is seeking a regenerative wellness space to an innovative maker-space, the architecture guides individuals to what they need most in that moment.

This is not just a place, it is an experience. A spatial journey designed to embrace change, cultivate balance and inspire forward movement. A sanctuary in the city, where design becomes a catalyst for inner alignment and creative flow while also combating social isolation.

Technical information

The project highlights the importance of reusing old lost buildings within the City of Birmingham. Showing the need to reuse rather than replace the old to make it new again. Throughout my design i have kept all original features and utilised them.
