Project description

The challenge throughout the project was to balance between the rough ambiguous characteristics of the embassy and the spatial qualities that respect the human scale and the surrounding environmental conditions. The final design provided the separation between the embassy, the consulate and the ambassador’s resident a series of indoor and outdoor operational spaces that glues the program.

Technical information

Material that has been used in construction in Ethiopia for millennia and which, thanks to the transfer of know-how, becomes a binding material between two countries.
It creates a solid support for open spaces in a landscaped garden, provides a confidential, friendly atmosphere and means sustainable future development.
The earth, compacted, compacted to form walls, shaped in vaults, mixed with plaster, pressed to produce rammed earth bricks, is the basic element of the new Czech embassy in Addis Ababa.
