This project explores the integration of spatial perception and architectural facade. By employing triangular elements, spatial experience is translated into visual transformations on the facade; Besides, the court yard design transforms the volumetric composition of the exterior into a dynamic spatial experience, simultaneously achieving integration between diverse functions.
Triangular Geometry as a Functional Language:
The idea of this project is to explore how different functions can be integrated through architectural transformation. By twisting and interlocking blocks, new spatial relationships and forms were created. During this process of torsion, the blocks intersect with the column system and generate triangular forms at the corners, which become a key design language. These triangular elements are used repeatedly to reflect various functional characters—such as in theaters, where they help soften the space and conceal equipment, or in public areas, where they express openness and serve to hide utilities. This formal transformation also symbolizes the shift from plan to elevation, combining design language with spatial features.
Guiding Movement Through Diagonal Ramps:
At the interior level, the design expresses the crossing of architectural volumes through a series of continuous, intersecting ramps in the central atrium. These bridge-like elements diagonally span the space between the conference center and the lobby, creating dynamic visual and physical connections. By linking different public areas across multiple levels, the ramps not only enhance circulation but also turning movement itself into an architectural experience.
Reflective Facade:
Unconventional reinterpretations of facades have gained interest. The facade is made of black reflective metal and glass that reflects different colors depending on the angle of the sun during the day.
This project is a high-end mixed-use commercial hotel that integrates a variety of programs including accommodation, dining, entertainment, and conference facilities. Located in Nanjing, China, the hotel sits within a newly planned industrial park and is adjacent to several major transportation hubs, positioning it as a future commercial landmark of the city.
The project has a total gross floor area of 31,500 square meters and a building footprint of 5,300 square meters, resulting in a floor area ratio (FAR) of 1.2. The green coverage ratio is 35%. The development includes 224 guest rooms and provides 75 parking spaces.
