Project idea

Project Description – Convention Centre

The proposed Convention Centre is envisioned as a seamless blend of built and natural environments, where architecture and landscape converge to create a vibrant and immersive experience. At the heart of the design is a dynamic central lobby that not only serves as a circulation hub but also acts as the focal point of spatial and social interaction.

The lobby is designed to dissolve the boundary between exterior and interior through strategic integration of landscape elements—such as green courts, reflective water bodies, and shaded plazas—that flow into the indoor spaces. This transition is orchestrated using transparent façades, indoor planting zones, and continuity in material palette, encouraging visitors to experience nature as an integral part of the interior atmosphere.

The convention centre unfolds in a series of interconnected levels, with the central lobby mediating these vertical transitions through stepped platforms, floating mezzanines, and multi-level visual links. This variation in levels enriches spatial experience, allows for diverse functional zoning, and frames views toward landscaped pockets and open sky above.

Technical information

Technical Project Overview – Convention Centre

The convention centre is conceived as a multi-level structure anchored by a central lobby that functions as both a spatial and structural core. Steel construction is employed to achieve long-span, column-free interiors—ideal for accommodating large crowds and flexible event layouts within the lobby and adjacent halls.

The integration of landscape with the interior is enabled through expansive glazed façades supported by lightweight steel framing, maximizing natural light and visual connectivity. The varying levels are connected via cantilevered walkways, floating staircases, and suspended mezzanines—all efficiently supported by steel trusses and beams.

Steel’s high strength-to-weight ratio enables slender structural members, faster construction timelines, and ease of future adaptability—aligning with the project’s goal of creating a dynamic, open, and connected environment.
