Project idea

The main goal was to rethink the castle as a modern multifunctional space that combines cultural, tourist, and educational functions. All spaces are adapted with respect for the historical heritage of the building, using up-to-date design solutions.

Project description

The Zahrádky Castle reconstruction project was created by students of the Master's program at Kyiv National University of Technology and Design (KNUTD, 2 Mala Shyianovska St., Kyiv, Ukraine). The work was carried out as part of a training course led by Associate Professor Tetiana Bulhakova.

The castle building was divided among the team members into the following parts: entrance area, restaurant premises, exhibition halls, souvenir shop, hotel (standard rooms, superior rooms, suites), a conference hall for 100 people, and two conference halls for 50 people each.

A complete set of drawings was produced, including demolition and installation plans, furniture and equipment layout plans, ceiling plans with lighting, electrical equipment placement diagrams, as well as interior visualizations.

Technical information

The demolition of non-load-bearing structures is planned in certain areas to free up space. The installation of wall structures and suspended ceiling elements is planned to be carried out using plasterboard. Interior finishes will include decorative plaster, paint, and applied wall panels (boiserie). Where possible, the preservation of the historic parquet flooring is planned.
