The idea of this project is to create a modern and unique space for children, teenagers and young people attending a cultural center on Sobchak Square in St. Petersburg. Nowadays the area in front of the center is a place for unregulated parking which causes negative effect on the ecology of the neighborhood and uncontrolled traffic on the square area is also not safe for children. So, the project has the goal to renovate this area turning Sobchak Square into a green space which allows many activities for people of different ages and interests.
The main art-object on the square is a "Tube", a 200 meters long art-object imitating an industrial pipe to fit the aesthetics of the neighborhood. In some places the "Tube" turns into a paving line of the same eye-catching color. The "Tube" was created to show a connection between all the parts of the project. It starts with a miniature square on which you can see a sculpture of a bird, sitting on the "Tube" (the thing that birds always do). People can also sit on the "Tube" as this art-object was specifically designed as a multi-fuctional tool which can be a bench, swings and a place for children's play.
The other significant zone of this project is a "garden of sculptures". It was created as a place of collaboration between a square and a museum of contemporary art "Erarta" (which is nearby the area of the project). Modern artists can use the "garden" as a place of open air exibition to show their works of art.
Mainly used materials in the project are wood, metal and plastic. The pavement is made of paving stones.
