Site and Context: The design respects the natural landscape of Evka 3, elevating the building to minimize disruption and maintain the area's greenery. It also emphasizes forest fire awareness, crucial for the site's vulnerability.
Conceptual Approach: The project explores the theme of chaos and order, symbolized by fire (chaos) and the fire station (order). The design contrasts monumental concrete cores for operational functions with lighter, timber elements for dynamic public spaces.
Programmatic Strategy: The layout balances the privacy needs of the fire station with public engagement. Ground-level spaces are open for the community, with restricted access to the operational parts. Additional functions like an auditorium, café, and gym enhance both fire awareness and community interaction.
Materiality: The use of reinforced concrete (static order) and timber (dynamic flexibility) plays a key role in the design. Polycarbonate façades provide transparency, while timber is designed to be fire-resistant with protective layers.
Safety Measures: Fire safety is prioritized, with materials chosen to withstand fire. Timber is designed to form protective char layers, and self-extinguishing polycarbonate is used in the façade.
