"Prism of Space"

Project idea

The project was created as an exhibition space to showcase student works in the courtyard of the National University of Urban Economy named after O.M. Beketov. The space is conceived as a gathering point, a place of reflection and interaction, combining functionality and symbolism.
The concept was based on the shape of a spatial cross inspired by anti-tank hedgehogs, which became a symbol of protection, resistance, and inner strength in wartime. Thus, the design symbolically conveys resistance to destruction through creation - it simultaneously reminds of the threat and calls for cultural resistance and unity through art.

Project description

The design of the object was developed in the style of constructivism, which has deep historical roots in Kharkiv, one of the centers of this architectural movement in Ukraine. Minimalism, functionality, rigid geometry - all this echoes the formal language of constructivism and creates a clear visual image.

The space consists of four frames arranged in the shape of a cross, which form an area for exhibiting objects, models, posters; for holding various events (for example, lectures) and public discussions; for viewing multimedia materials
The walls are translucent, which allows creating a light visual boundary between the outer space and the inner chamber without feeling closed. This structure organically fits into the landscape of the university courtyard, without disturbing the natural environment, but adding semantic richness to it.

Technical information

Structure: metal, made of aluminum profiles, connected in the form of a spatial cross (4 sections at 90°).
Walls: stretched synthetic translucent fabric (such as mesh, awning or polyester with impregnation), which is fixed to the frame.
Dimensions: each section is 3000 × 3000 mm, construction - 3560 mm.
Color scheme: accents of blue, red and green - colors that symbolize energy, action and stability.
The project envisages the use of TVs/monitors for demonstration, stands for exhibits, and chairs for spectators.
