This project responds to urban-rural divide with the theme of "grid penetration, scattered regeneration" - breaking down the orderliness of urban grids into growable modules, grafting them with organic forms of villages, and forming a physical carrier for fair resource redistribution.
This project originated from my observation of the differences between the urban and rural textures of Kashgar in Africa while viewing existing venues, which sparked my thoughts on the wealth gap in the world and Africa today. The urban texture is usually orderly, while the rural texture is more extensive and free. I hope to integrate the two textures to some extent and spread my thoughts on the wealth gap to everyone.
In addition, from a practical perspective, I also hope that through this project, the integration of the two can achieve a preliminary understanding of the city among local rural students, because there will always be a part of them who will come to the city through education in the future. I hope to spread the concept to them, so that they can understand the operation of the city and an abstract way of life, so that they will not feel disconnected and helpless when they enter society in the future.
This project places courtyards and walls by rubbing the order grid of the city and the scattered distribution of the countryside.
Through the mutual infiltration of the courtyard and road walls, a sense of both order and freedom can be achieved.
People are usually limited by grids, or in other words, grids provide them with a certain sense of security in space. However, to integrate them, it is necessary to break and break down this limited security space to a certain extent, so that order can be integrated with each other. This space is a topic we want to create about the future, about students going to the city for socializing and future activities.
This project is mainly divided into four parts. The first part is the learning area. The idea is to create a social space with a triple experience in the learning area, which includes a transition space between the indoor learning area and the classroom, called the semi outdoor area, as well as a sunken rest platform to the outdoor and outdoor areas. It is hoped that they can find the space they want or engage in social activities in these spaces. The learning area is mainly divided into discussion rooms, offices, toilets, and the school clinic.
The living area is mainly constructed in small units, with one dormitory accommodating six students. Each dormitory has a different organizational structure within the grid, which is also the social mode we want to create for them with different mechanisms to a certain extent.
The practice area mainly consists of laboratories, workshops, and tool rooms, as well as a large green area and planting field. The site has not undergone much intervention, and we hope that they can reflect on nature and become their dream careers in the future.
The last one is the church area. The church area has created more gray space and its center in the three major areas. The purpose is to provide them with a sense of security in the lower sheltered space when the sun is hot or the rainstorm is heavy. The churches they pass through in daily life are combined with their beliefs. I hope that faith is not lofty, but down-to-earth and accompanies us in silence. This sense of security just reflects the feeling of silent companionship. In addition, a large area of open space is arranged for them to meet outdoors or indoors, and a series of celebrations can be held around it during the harvest festival.
The structure of the building is mainly composed of hollow bricks and cement, forming a basic column beam structure. The upper part will be constructed with trusses as unit structures for roof construction. High priced roofs can to some extent avoid the influence of acoustics on rainy days. Trees and grass can be planted between houses, and a certain wall can be built to give the space more fun, just like strolling in an open, free, but limited maze, which can also change the local microclimate to a certain extent.
