Project idea

Kisumu is a city in Kenya which lies on the shores of Lake Victoria, the 2nd largest freshwater lake in the world. Despite the vast potential Kisumu has in the tourism sector owing to the large biodiversity present on the littoral area of Kisumu, it remains largely untapped due to the lack of adequate word class recreational and accommodation facilities. This project aims to provide a solution to the said challenge.

Project description

The project brief entails designing a world class eco resort worthy of a 5-star rating. the resort should contain among others ;accommodation units(chalets), restaurant, conference hall, gift shops. The site of the project is a 4 ha piece of land on the Rari peninsula in Kisumu along the shores of Lake Victoria coordinates 0°08'55.7"S 34°37'26.5"E

Technical information

Construction on site involves incorporation of local building materials & technology eg buildings will be suspended on stilts to address rising water levels and use of wattle and daub walls and thatch roofs for all buildings
