Project idea

The project focuses on the revitalization of a former school on the village square in Všechovice, aiming to breathe new life into the Neo-Renaissance building through a modern extension inspired by Bohuslav Fuchs.

The result is a new community center including a municipal office, clinic, library, café, and gallery. The design responds sensitively to the historic context and creates a high-quality public space for both locals and visitors.

Project description

The project includes the renovation of a historic former school building and its extension with a new addition. It also involves the redesign of the adjacent public space. The solution addresses both architectural form and function, as well as the integration of the building into its surroundings.

The proposed program features a municipal office, ceremonial hall, clinic, library, café, gallery, and outdoor public areas. The project covers structural modifications, new construction, layout changes, technical infrastructure, and universal accessibility for all users.

Technical information

The historic building is constructed from solid fired bricks using a traditional masonry system. The existing structures are locally reinforced and adapted for their new functions.

The new extension is designed as a reinforced concrete frame with infill masonry and a lightweight ventilated façade. The exterior cladding combines wooden slats and fiber-cement panels.

The project also includes complete technical infrastructure: heating, ventilation, electrical systems, and full accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
