"THE PLANET" Leisure Center project was born from the desire to create architecture that is not only functional but also inspirational. The main idea is a metaphor of space and discovery, expressed through the contrast of geometric forms: a perfect sphere ("planet") is enclosed within a dynamic composition of intersecting parallelepipeds.
This image reflects the center's mission - to unite science (planetarium, educational clubs) and contemporary art in a space where architecture itself becomes part of the experience.
Key Architectural and Design Solutions:
1. The Dominant Sphere
- The sphere symbolizes planetary and space themes, inside there is a planetarium with a dome screen.
- Construction: The spherical lattice shell is constructed from metal and metal angle profiles, while the interior space (the sphere) is filled with glass, creating an effect of lightness and technological sophistication.
2. Dynamic "Ring" Volume
- The encompassing parallelepiped "pierces" the sphere, forming:
- An *attraction staircase* with panoramic glazing - an interactive element connecting floors while offering city views.
- An *observation deck* - a space for relaxation and architectural interaction.
3. Structural Features
- The sphere is supported by reinforced concrete columns, emphasizing the contrast between mass and lightness.
- Wall frame system and structural floor plates ensure layout flexibility.
Innovations and Sustainability:
- Form-Function Synergy: The architecture doesn't just express ideas but becomes part of user experience (attraction staircase, art integration).
- Eco-Consciousness: Maximized natural lighting through panoramic glazing, durable material selection (metal, glass, reinforced concrete).
- Adaptability: Spaces easily transform for exhibitions, lectures, or performances.
Social and Cultural Significance:
The project establishes a new typology for leisure centers where:
- "Education" (planetarium, science clubs) blends with *entertainment* (interactive zones).
- "Architecture" serves as an engagement tool - visitors interact with volumes, redefining conventional building use patterns.
This project explores how architecture can tell stories. Here, form (sphere as planet) and function (planetarium, activity spaces) merge into a unified narrative about space and creativity.
The design process allowed to:
- Transform abstract concepts into viable spatial solutions.
- Balance bold imagery with technical feasibility.
- Develop user movement "scenarios" through architecture.
The project offers not just a building, but an ‘atmosphere’ where every element - from structure to visitor pathways - serves the overarching concept.
The idea involves creating a sphere inscribed within a parallelepiped, which is pierced by another parallelepiped extending upward and forming an entertainment attraction inside—a staircase with panoramic windows offering views of the city.
The leisure center features clubs related to space and modern art. There is a planetarium in the sphere.
The columns holding the sphere are made of reinforced concrete.
The spherical lattice shell is constructed from metal and metal angle profiles, while the interior space (the sphere) is filled with glass.
The walls have a frame structure, and the floors are a structural plates
