Project idea

The project envisions a sustainable community hub that fosters harmony between people and nature. Designed as a flexible space for education, civic initiatives, and commerce, it incorporates energy-efficient systems and ecological design.

Project description

A compact, 12-meter-high volume organizes uses vertically: a civil shelter in the basement, café and shops on the ground floor, and public functions and NGO offices above. Service spaces are placed along the blind wall, maximizing daylight in primary areas.

A walkable green roof offers leisure and learning, while rooftop solar panels reduce energy demand. In front, a public garden is complemented by a semi-private one near the café.

Technical information

The building features a ventilated FSC-certified timber façade over natural insulation, ensuring moisture control, thermal efficiency, and a warm urban presence. Timber is treated with natural oils for durability.

Local materials, rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, and heat-recovery ventilation all contribute to a low-impact, sustainable design—a model for future green hubs in Ukraine.
