Project idea

The idea of this project is to transform the concept of a traditional kindergarten into an immersive adventure space for children. The design aspires to create an environment where every moment becomes a joyful exploration, fostering unity with nature and promoting a sense of wonder. The project emphasizes unconditional safety, ensuring that children can move, explore, and learn freely within a carefully designed and protected setting. The kindergarten becomes not just a place of learning, but a living storybook — a space where architecture and landscape combine to inspire creativity, curiosity, and emotional well-being.

Project description

This project consists of several carefully integrated components aimed at supporting both the educational and emotional development of children:
• Indoor Learning and Play Zones: Spacious, light-filled rooms crafted with natural materials to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Flexible layouts accommodate a variety of learning activities.
• Outdoor Adventure Garden: A dynamic landscape featuring climbing structures, interactive pathways, and natural play elements designed to encourage exploration and physical activity.
• Nature Integration: Abundant greenery throughout the project fosters a constant connection to nature. Large openings blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
• Safety by Design: The entire environment is structured with visibility, soft materials, and secure boundaries, ensuring children are safe while remaining free to explore.
• Emotional Spaces: Quiet corners and sensory-friendly zones provide places for reflection and calm, supporting the diverse emotional needs of young children.

The main focus of the project is to create a harmonious dialogue between built form and natural environment, offering children a nurturing space where imagination and movement are encouraged every day.

Technical information

The construction of the building utilizes a combination of reinforced concrete for structural stability and natural wood and stone to achieve a warm, inviting aesthetic. Large panoramic windows provide extensive daylighting and enhance the visual connection with the outdoor environment.

Key technical features include:
• Passive ventilation strategies to maintain healthy indoor air quality.
• Thermal comfort optimized through appropriate insulation and shading devices.
• Safety elements such as cushioned floors, rounded edges, non-toxic finishes, and fully enclosed outdoor areas.
• Accessibility is provided in compliance with European and local standards, ensuring inclusivity for all children.

Sustainability and child-centered design principles guide every aspect of the project, aiming to provide a lasting positive impact on both the children’s development and the surrounding community.
