Project idea

tthe idea of this project is to transfer Lefkosa auto park into a transportation hub that consist many other transportations as bus, tram and train to use in between cities..

The concept of this transportation hub design is to enhance pedestrian accessibility through ramps on multiple ground levels aims to seamlessly connect various modes of transport while prioritizing ease of movement for pedestrians...

Also, enhancing natural light and ventilation inside of the building so it can reach all underground levels as much as possible.

Project description

In a well-designed transportation hub, alongside essential service spaces like the maintenance workshop, utility rooms, cleaning supplies room, and staff room, it is important to provide a comfortable waiting area with seating, charging stations, and digital information boards for passengers. A gallery space can showcase local art or culture, enriching the travel experience and reflecting the city’s identity. Additionally, a café offers a convenient spot for passengers to relax and enjoy refreshments while waiting, accommodation spaces for people to rest until the time of their their departure..

Technical information

The structural system of this transportation hub uses a steel space frame, which provides a lightweight yet strong and flexible roof structure, ideal for covering large open areas like waiting zones and circulation spaces. It is supported by tree-shaped columns, which not only reduce the number of vertical supports but also enhance the visual openness and architectural identity of the space. To ensure lateral stability against wind and seismic forces, shear walls are integrated into the structure, typically around service cores or enclosed rooms, helping to resist horizontal loads and maintain overall structural rigidity.
