Project idea

The concept of this project is based on luminosity of light that permeates throughout the building through a transparent box. A transparent box was used, as an inspirational element interplays hymns of light within the project, to convey people’s desire to freely intermingle with nature. This box also is an expression of rejection of darkness, fear, and war. Moreover, the triangular shape in the heart of the project is a manifestation of hope and dreams of peace thar fills people’s hearts.

Technical information

• The construction system relies on engineered wood for all elements including columns, beams, floor panels, stairs, and both external and internal walls for the construction of ecological and energy-efficient reasons. I suggest the glued timber laminated timber for its modern and aesthetic look, and because it provides the necessary strength and stability while complying with all regulations and standards. Glulam, or Glue Laminated Timber (GLT), is suggested as an adaptable materials in modern construction. It is made from strength-graded, planed spruce boards with finger joints, glued under pressure on the flatwise surface, providing high strength, stability, and resistance to deformation. Minvata and Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membranes - polymer waterproofing material are recommended to be used for insulation. The building walls will be clad with wood as a renewable resource that is durable and robust. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, wood has good insulation properties and thus helps to improve the energy efficiency of the building. The wood will be coated also with Silicate paints to guarantee longevity. The windows of the building will be of double glazing and framed with UPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) frames due to their excellent thermal performance.
