The idea behind this project is to address the growing need for efficient, interconnected, and user-centered mobility infrastructure in Lefkosha( north Cyprus). As urban mobility becomes more multimodal, the project proposes a transportation hub that seamlessly integrates various modes of transport — train, bus, bike, and taxi — into one dynamic and adaptable space. This hub aims to enhance user experience, reduce travel time, and foster sustainable urban movement, while also acting as a civic space where functionality meets urban identity.
The project consists of two main levels. The ground floor hosts a fluid layout integrating train platforms, bus terminals, and bike rental services. This ensures intuitive and rapid transfers between transport modes. The first floor includes additional facilities such as taxi waiting zones, train lounges, public amenities, and administrative offices. The layout is designed to maintain a continuous flow while accommodating peak-hour adaptability. The architecture emphasizes spatial clarity, accessibility, and user comfort to ensure a welcoming, future-proof mobility center.
The main structural system of the transportation hub combines folded plate units and arch forms to create both structural strength and architectural expression. This hybrid system ensures efficient load distribution while allowing large open interior spaces. For the superstructure, the project employs a combination of I-beam steel elements, steel arch tubes, and reinforced concrete. This mix provides both flexibility and durability, suitable for accommodating high pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The design also integrates passive design strategies such as natural ventilation and daylight optimization, while the material palette supports sustainability and ease of maintenance.
