Project Concept and Idea

The project “Cuore Italiano” (Italian Heart) represents a conceptual interior design for a hotel lobby, inspired by the vibrancy, warmth, and rich cultural heritage of Italy. The design aims to create a welcoming, artistic, and emotionally resonant atmosphere for guests, where traditional motifs are harmoniously integrated into a modern hospitality environment.

The heart of the concept is the emotional and visual impact of Italian art and architecture, expressed through dynamic wall compositions, vibrant color palettes, organic furniture shapes, and thoughtful spatial zoning. The lobby becomes not just a functional transit space but a memorable cultural experience.

Project Goals and Objectives
1. Create an engaging and emotionally expressive space:
Through the use of bold colors, abstract and traditional patterns, and artistic composition, the lobby stimulates curiosity and offers guests a unique aesthetic journey.
2. Reflect Italian identity and elegance:
The name “Cuore Italiano” is echoed in every design choice—from curved, heart-like architectural forms to the warm materiality that evokes Italian craftsmanship and style.
3. Encourage relaxation and communication:
The furniture layout includes soft, modular seating areas that encourage informal meetings, rest, and dialogue among guests, while also allowing visual openness throughout the space.
4. Combine function and art:
Every element—from the reception desk to the ceiling design—serves both a practical and symbolic role, uniting utility with artistic value.
5. Ensure logical spatial organization:
The project includes clear zoning for reception, waiting areas, circulation, and visual focal points. The plans and sections demonstrate the functional layout and the connection between volumes and decorative accents.

Project description

Project Structure

The Cuore Italiano project includes both artistic and technical components, providing a comprehensive presentation of the hotel lobby interior. All visuals were created by hand using watercolor, colored pencils, fineliners, and graphite pencils.

1. Main Visual Panel of the Project

This is the central element of the presentation, consisting of the following components:
• Perspective Views (6 total):
Hand-drawn visualizations of the hotel lobby from various angles, conveying the atmosphere, lighting, composition, and emotional perception of the space.
• Furniture Layout Plan (floor plan):
Illustrates the zoning of the space and placement of key elements such as the reception desk, waiting area, decorative features, and furniture.
• Ceiling Plan:
Shows the decorative ceiling structure, including a central art object and accent lighting that enhances the composition and ambiance.
• Two Section Drawings:
Architectural cross-sections that demonstrate the vertical relationships between elements. These clarify the proportions, scale, and spatial interaction of the design.

2. Main Area of the Project – The Hotel Lobby
• Functional Core:
The reception desk is placed directly opposite the grand staircase, acting as the architectural and conceptual center of the space.
• Waiting Area:
Includes designer furniture, creating a comfortable environment for rest and informal meetings.
• Bar Area:
Seamlessly integrated into the space, it maintains visual and stylistic unity.
• Decorative Panels and Art Objects:
Serve as identity elements, bringing the space to life and setting a vibrant, artistic rhythm.

3. Technical Album

In addition to the main visual panel, a separate technical album was submitted for the competition, which includes:
• Detailed architectural plans (scale 1:100)
• Ergonomics and lighting analysis
