Project idea

The task was to create accommodation and a ceremonial hall at the chateau. Although the design of the historical building of the castle is finished and does not include these functions. This meant that we had to look outside for a solution and create new functions outside the chateau.

Project description

The castle has two above-ground floors with attic and two underground floors. The building is divided into functional parts: museum, art school, accommodation, wine cellar. The representative room of the castle on the second floor is also used for cultural events and ceremonies.
On the south side there is the main entrance to the building, which serves the museum on the 1st floor. Below the main entrance there are entrances to the underground floor, which serves the wine cellar and the apartment. On the north side there is a wheelchair accessible entrance which serves the art school on the 2nd floor and the ceremonies.
On the 1st floor there is a museum with three exhibition units, museum facilities, a ticket office, sanitary facilities for museum guests.
On the 2nd floor there is an elementary art school, and rooms for music, dance and art classes are located on the entire floor. There is also a dance hall, sanitary facilities, facilities for teachers and last but not least a representative hall for cultural events and ceremonies.
On the 1st underground floor we find an apartment (representative accommodation) and a wine cellar. These facilities are sufficiently separated.
The 2nd underground floor has not been designed.

The northern extension has one floor and serves as accommodation. The entrance and corridor lead to twelve rooms, two utility rooms under the external staircase and two storerooms.
The eastern annex serves as a hall for cultural events. It includes a bar, a capacity sanitary facility, a technical room and a storage room.

Technical information

The northern extension is a monolithic construction, wall system. The material of the supporting structures is reinforced concrete. The building is embedded in the ground.
The eastern extension is partially recessed into the ground. The bearing system is mixed (skeleton and wall). The skeleton is made of cross-laminated timber panels (CLT), The walls, which transfer the load from the ground, are reinforced concrete monolithic.
