Project idea

When designing my building, I focused on the dilapidated barn, which is located in the northeastern part of the property. Thanks to the elevated terrain, this position allows us a beautiful view towards the castle. At the same time, the brewery and its turret can be seen from this position. The design itself consists of dividing the original building, which is now a ruin, into five equally sized buildings and rotating two even buildings by 90 degrees towards the castle, and then placing them in the dilapidated barn. As a material, I chose a wooden prefabricated structure with an external corten cladding. This material beautifully tells the story of the degradation of a previously functional barn, of which now only a dilapidated brick wall overgrown with moss and ivy remains.

Project description

Our assignment was to design a recreational accommodation in the castle complex in Jetřichovice and thus take advantage of the mysterious and historical atmosphere that the complex offers. The castle complex offers us a castle, half-dilapidated historical buildings and a castle park with old, mature trees. The goal was to design the building in such a way that it would support maximum connection with nature and the castle.
