Project idea

The project aims to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Ivo Lola Ribar Street in the center of Kragujevac by revitalizing its traditional shoemaking heritage.
Through contemporary urban and architectural design, it seeks to reconnect existing structures into a unified spatial and ambient whole while honoring the historical context.

Project description

The project focuses on the reconstruction of a block within the spatial unit along Ivo Lola Ribar Street, a historically significant area known for its craft shops, especially shoemaking workshops.
The concept utilizes a grid system of cubes to shape both interior and exterior spaces, creating distinct display and working zones.
The design reimagines urban connectivity, encouraging interaction while maintaining the spirit of the historical environment through modern architectural approaches.

Technical information

The construction system is based on a modular grid structure using reinforced concrete for stability, combined with natural materials such as wood and stone for interior and exterior finishes.
The modular cubes define flexible functional zones.
Sustainable design strategies, including green roofs and permeable surfaces, are integrated to enhance environmental performance and the urban microclimate.
