Project idea

The idea of this project is the learning history through emotions and the immersion in the context of the place. Due to this we use the effects from materials and light to reflect the sequence of events of Schindler's salvation of the Jewish people from oppression to the attainment of freedom.

Project description

The design of the museum in the building of Schindler's Ark aims to have an emotional impact on visitors. The three-story building allows you to divide the museum tour into sections, without giving a person a clear route to follow through a specific section. Entering the first floor, the visitor is immersed in oppressive, negative emotions, this is facilitated by the interior and surroundings. he can move freely through the halls until he wants to go further. On the second floor, a person is immersed in history, the atmosphere becomes more neutral, but due to learning the story, the person continues to be in a depressed emotional state. The project also does not limit the visitor to studying history; he can do it from the beginning, or maybe from the end - this is his choice. Finally, going up to the third floor, the visitor sees sunlight through the windows and the light fabric used in the interior. All this gives a person lightness and freedom. Here he can feel the similarity with the Jewish people saved by Schindler. To completely get out of a depressed state, a person can go to the roof of a building and find himself in the fresh air.

Technical information

The load-bearing walls of the building are made of brick, the holes in the ceiling on the 2nd floor are filled with glass, under which exhibits are stored. On the third floor are trusses on which fabric is hung. Finishing materials used: stone, brick, plaster.
