Project idea

This project intends to address the current need of reimagining the largest book market of Bangladesh, the Nilkhet Book Market.

Project description

The reimagined Nilkhet Books Market marries tradition with modernity, introducing a contemporary urban oasis that not only accommodates existing vendors but also enchants visitors with its north-south building orientation for ample natural light and ventilation, diverse gathering spaces, varied terraces, and spacious shopping areas. The addition of restaurants and eateries transforms it into a multifaceted urban destination, while stringent safety measures, including full fire truck circulation and strategically placed fire stairs, prioritize visitor and vendor well-being. With its emphasis on sustainability, accessibility, and user experience, this project reinvents Nilkhet Books Market as a vibrant and inclusive hub, offering a welcoming haven in the heart of Dhaka for people from all walks of life.
