Project idea

A parasitic architecture project explores the concept of symbiotic structures within urban landscapes. The idea involves creating adaptable, non-permanent structures that leverage existing buildings as hosts, without compromising their integrity. These parasitic elements could include modular living spaces, green installations, or functional extensions that enhance the host's utility. The project aims to challenge traditional notions of architectural permanence and resource consumption by promoting shared infrastructure. It envisions a dynamic urban ecosystem where structures evolve and adapt to changing needs, fostering a sustainable and collaborative approach to urban development. The parasitic architecture concept encourages creative reimagining of space utilization and resource efficiency in densely populated areas.

Project description

In this project we developed a parasite architecture supported underneath a flyover. This used the existing structure as a basis for new structure that utilized transformed art gallery.

Technical information

Parasitic arhitecture emulates that relationship with structures sitting on top of, underneath, or algongside existing structures, relying on its host for support and resources.
