Project idea

The idea of a solar freezer is based on the consideration that refrigeration and freezing plants are very energy intensive and are only economical for large volumes of goods. However, replacing conventional energy sources with solar energy leads to the possibility of small-scale cold storage capacities, independent of demanding infrastructure and completely self-sufficient. Such experiments are emerging, especially in developing countries where the infrastructure is not in place and at the same time meet the conditions of sufficiently high solar radiation concentration.

Project description

URBAN DESIGN
THE BUILDING IN MY DESIGN IS LOCATED IN THE EASTERN PART OF TUNISIA NEAR THE SMALL COASTAL TOWN OF SHKIRA. IT IS LOCATED NEAR THE PORT, WHICH BECOMES A SOURCE OF FISH FROM THE LOCAL FISHERMEN. ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE TOWN ARE FIELDS THAT ARE FARMED BY LOCAL FARMERS. THE CROPS FROM THESE FIELDS WILL ALSO BE FROZEN IN A FREEZER. THE FROZEN PRODUCTS WILL BE WILL THEN BE TRANSPORTED BY SMALLER TRUCKS TO THEIR FINAL DESTINATIONS. DESTINATIONS.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
THREE BUILDINGS. THE MAIN PRODUCTION BUILDING OCCUPIES THE GROUND PLAN SQUARE IN HEIGHT DIVIDED INTO THIRDS – THE MIDDLE PART HAS A CLEAR HEIGHT THREE METRES, THE SIDE PARTS SIX FULL METRES. THE WHOLE TATO PART OF THE BUILDING IS THEN ROOFED WITH A STRUCTURE CARRYING SOLAR PANELS, WHICH IS LIKE TWO PLATES INCLINED ACCORDING TO THE HEIGHT OF THE BUILDING THE AREA IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE MAIN FACTORY IS ALSO SCREENED, AND BY A GRID STRUCTURE WHOSE SQUARE GAPS ARE FILLED WITH WITH A FABRIC FILLING. FROM THE MASS OF THE MAIN PRODUCTION BUILDING TO THE EAST SIDE TO THE EAST SIDE OF THE MAIN BUILDING, A WING WITH ANCILLARY FACILITIES RUNS OUT TO THE EAST, AND A WING WITH ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS. THE WINGS ARE RECTANGULAR IN PLAN. BOTH THESE BUILDINGS HAVE A CLEAR HEIGHT OF THREE METRES, THE ENTRANCES ARE RHYTHMICALLY ARRANGED RHYTHMICALLY ON ONE SIDE OF THE FAÇADE. ON THE SIDE OPPOSITE IT ARE THE BUILDINGS ARE THEN RHYTHMICALLY DIVIDED BY RAZOR BLADES. THE WHOLE COMPLEX IS FURTHER COMPLEMENTED BY THE BUILDING OF THE GATEHOUSE, WHICH IS LOCATED RIGHT AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE COMPLEX AND AT THE SAME TIME IT FORMS AN IMAGINARY THIRD CORNER OF THE SQUARE COMPLEX.

LAYOUT
AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE SITE THERE IS A BUILDING WITH A PORTER'S LODGE, PORTER'S FACILITIES AND STORAGE AREA FOR BICYCLES, WHICH IS ALSO GUARDED BY A DOORMAN. NEXT TRUCKS PULL INTO THE AREA IN FRONT OF THE MAIN PRODUCTION AREA. AFTER ENTERING THE MAIN PRODUCTION BUILDING, THE GOODS TRAVEL THROUGH CHILLED CORRIDORS BASED ON THEIR TYPE, EITHER INTO THE MEAT FREEZER TUNNEL OR INTO THE FRUIT AND VEGETABLE TEMPERING ROOM. FROM THERE, THROUGH THE SAME REFRIGERATED CORRIDORS TO TO THE FRUIT AND VEGETABLE COLD ROOM OR TO THE MEAT FREEZER. EACH OF THESE ROOMS ARE LOCATED TWICE IN THE BUILDING. IN THE CENTRAL (LOWER) PART OF THIS OF THE BUILDING, THERE IS ALSO AN ICE-MAKING ROOM AND AN ICE STORAGE ROOM. IN THE AUXILIARY BUILDING, ADJACENT TO THE MAIN PRODUCTION BUILDING ON THE EASTERN SIDE, THERE IS A HEADQUARTERS, A MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP, A MAINTENANCE WAREHOUSE, A CHARGING THE MAIN SWITCHBOARD AND THE DIESEL GENERATOR ARE LOCATED IN THE BUILDING. DO ALL OF THESE ROOMS ARE ACCESSED DIRECTLY FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE SITE. THE ADMINISTRATION AREA IS ALSO DIRECTLY ACCESSIBLE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE PREMISES. THIS BUILDING IS DIRECTLY ADJACENT TO THE MAIN PLANT ON ITS SOUTH SIDE. THE ADMINISTRATIVE PART CONSISTS OF A DAY ROOM, SANITARY FACILITIES AND CHANGING ROOMS FOR MEN, WOMEN AND DISABLED PERSONS, A STOREROOM AND TWO OFFICES.

Technical information

THE MAIN PRODUCTION BUILDING CONSISTS OF A STEEL SKELETON WITH PREFABRICATED LINING. THE LANDING ABOVE THIS BUILDING IS ALSO A STEEL SKELETON, WHICH CONSISTS OF A SEPARATE STRUCTURE AND HAS ONLY TWO ELEMENTS IN COMMON WITH THE BUILDING STRUCTURE MIDDLE COLUMNS. THE BUILDINGS FOR THE ADMINISTRATION, AUXILIARY AND PORTER'S LODGINGS ARE OF BRICK. THE FACADE OF ALL BUILDINGS IS MADE OF ADMITTED CONCRETE.
