Project idea

The idea of this project starts from this sentence "How to turn a masive object into a light one?" and having the concept of a feather in mind.
THE PROBLEM THAT ARISES FROM THE LIMITATIONS CAUSED BY THE PRESERVATION OF DISTANCES ON THE PLANE IS THAT THE INITIAL VOLUMETRY OF THE OBJECT APPEARS MASSIVE.

THE GOAL IS TO CAMOUFLAGE THE MASSIVENESS OF THE VOLUME AND CONNECT IT ORGANICLY WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE LAKE PARK.

THE BASIC INSPIRATION IS THE SHAPE OF THE FEATHER, THE LIGHTNESS THAT THIS IMAGE COMES INSPIRED AND FROM THE INITIAL SKETCHES IN THE ZONE.
A "LIGHT" VOLUME, ARTISTICALLY RELATED TO THE FUNCTION AND CONNECTION POINT BETWEEN THE PARK AND THE CITY.

Project description

Step 1-Starting from the urban conditions, we determine the perimeter of the surface of the square where we can build. We noticed the dilemma whether the object will belong to the park or the city. Contrast Nature / Urbanization.
Step 2-Based on the program, we define in the plan the necessary footprint for the theater and the necessary height according to the technical parameters. It is noted that this height constitutes a barrier for connecting the building with the park.
Step 3-To reduce the height, we put a part of the program underground according to the possibility given by the organizational scheme of the theater. To mark the entrance of the object, we make a letter that makes the entrance inviting in some.
Step 4-In the other part, we organize the rest of the program, the gallery, in levels. In order for these premises to provide natural lighting and ventilation, we are expanding the shape by creating an atrium.
Step 5-In order to highlight the entrance of the library, we once again make a cut in the corner, and we emphasize the shape with a narrow angle in the plan by increasing it in height.

Technical information

The construction of the building is a steel construction using "Mero technic" used to create organic shapes. Facade consist of panels using materials as fibre reinforced polymer and glass fibre reinforced concrete. The main structure is a mix of reinforced concrete, steel frame structures and composite beams and decks.
