Project idea

When we say nature, the first seed that comes to our mind is the seed. We grow the seed by doing the necessary care with water and soil and it becomes a tree. this tree gives more seeds and these seeds start many cycles again. It's an endless loop and it's constantly growing. The universe actually started from a point and is growing in a continuous order.
Science is trying to unravel this mysterious order. It is trying to descend into what is inside the seed. Just as we water the seed, it tries to find the truth through experimentation and observation. It tries to create more information from the information it finds and shows it to people.
While creating a social area where people can spend time and have fun in Nicosia from many universities and school bars within this science center, it also aimed to awaken the enthusiasm of people and students gathered in these areas to research science, technology and nature. And it has facilities and classrooms for them to do these researches.

Project description

This project includes a central area and a social area across the river on the land. The building has a main entrance. And from this entrance, one can proceed to a central lobby.
The project aimed to support circulation with ramps to support the concept. This idea is also found in the circulation of the exhibition areas.
All entrances to the building for the user reach the same lobby. From this lobby you can access the exhibition areas, the restaurant, the seminar area and the science garden. While the circulation of the upper floor is aimed with the ramp in the science center arranged like a courtyard, this idea is also supported by the stairs and elevators in the lobby. On the first floor, this ramp takes us to the science club and from there to the exhibition area. The purpose of these plans, which have a strong bottom and top connection, is to create a more visible and open plan and to enable users to notice the exhibition areas and science points more easily.
The service areas and the administration are located next to the science center so that the seminar area and exhibition areas can be easily reached.

Technical information

Steel columns and beams are used in the central building structure. And the structures of the long building are separated by the building expansion joints. Steel structure was used in the bridge on the upper floor.
Non-load-bearing facade elements were used on the facade of a part of the building. However, the facade design in the lobby is planned to work together with the roof. Folded structure is suggested for this design with steel panels and glass in between. (In the last poster, 3 options are presented for detailed facade structure.)
