Project idea

Interspace is interpreted as a place that hints at change. These are the last kilometers of draving before entering the city, measured in moments. That distinctly quiet zone, the distance between two loops, the sequence from the Nikola Tesla airport to the built-up part of the New Belgrade blocks, represents the focal point of the project, the field of action.
The presence of the airport, along with the highway, makes this "interspace" twofold gate of the city, between the monotony of what surrounds the path before entering the city and the built structure within it. The isolated sequence of the mentioned route speaks of another fact: it represents a thousandth of the total length of the E75 highway. It makes it uniform in a certain way, which gives it the possibility to become a type model, like a prototype for the entrance zone of any city along this route.

Project description

The project tries to materialize the metaphor of the city gate at a certain interval of the road, just before entering the city. The project indicates a new interpretation of the interval of the highway that passes through Belgrade. It is no longer seen as a place of passage and transition, it becomes a place of happenings, a place where the international becomes local and vice versa. Due to its role, it is being designed as a kind of experimental space, the new terminal represents a place where Belgrade meets the world.

Technical information

The construction of the building is made of a concrete runway and its steel supports with glass elements
