Project idea

The school project for 33 classes is located in the city of Lviv on the street Karla Miklos, Sykhiv district. The goal of the project was to create a functional, aesthetic and comfortable space for learning and supporting the development of students. The school is focused on multifunctionality and offers a variety of learning and recreational spaces for schoolchildren and their needs, encouraging them to cooperate. One of the tasks was to adapt to the surrounding urban infrastructure thanks to thoughtful placement, the creation of clear street spaces and a cosy schoolyard. The concept of the school's architectural solution is to create a safe and atmospheric learning environment. For this reason, it was decided to separate the elementary school from the senior school as much as possible during the entire stay of the students on the territory. Classrooms, a dining hall, recreation and sports facilities are all divided between age categories. There are also shared versatile spaces, like an internal open courtyard, which can easily be adapted for relaxation or different types of learning, both concentrated and group work.

Project description

The territory and the school building itself are conventionally divided into the following 4 main zones: elementary school, middle and high school, joint multifunctional zone and sports zone. The main building, which houses the first three zones, has a mixed floor type (2-3 floors). The gym is located separately from the main building due to the difficult terrain. The 3-hectare design plot is equipped with all the necessary components for a comfortable stay for children. The main element of the master plan is a clear division into functional zones according to age categories and an inner open courtyard, which serves as the main communication core of the school and can be used for the different needs of students.
