Project idea

The core idea behind this project was to envision and develop a state-of-the-art triple hall sports facility and an Olympic pool, both designed with a strong emphasis on bio-inspiration. Alongside this primary objective, the project encompassed the creation of a comprehensive masterplan that would guide the overall development. Our vision for the facility extended beyond its architectural design and functionality; it aimed to seamlessly integrate sustainability principles throughout, utilizing environmentally friendly practices and materials. Furthermore, the project sought to go beyond bio-inspiration by incorporating elements and influences from the rich tapestry of the local culture.

By blending the principles of sustainability, bio-inspiration, and cultural integration, our goal was to conceive a truly exceptional and transformative sports complex. We envisioned a facility that not only caters to the physical needs of athletes but also serves as a symbol of harmony between nature, sport, and culture. From the moment visitors enter the facility, they would be greeted by a captivating blend of organic design elements, innovative sustainable features, and artistic representations inspired by the local cultural heritage. Through this holistic approach, our project aimed to create an extraordinary sports complex that would inspire and engage athletes, spectators, and the community at large, fostering a deep connection between sport, nature, and cultural identity.

Project description

This project encompasses various key elements, including generative design, an introduction and explanation of the generative process, analysis of site properties, development of a masterplan, integration of bioinspiration principles, design of the superstructure and substructure, axonometric views showcasing the project, spatial compositions, spatial configuration, and visualizations.

Generative design played a significant role in shaping the project. The introduction provides an overview of the generative process.

The project includes a thorough analysis of site properties, considering factors such as topography, climate, and surrounding context. This analysis informs the masterplan, which outlines the overall layout and organization of the project site, including the placement of different components and amenities.

Bioinspiration is a central theme in the project, drawing inspiration from natural systems and forms to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the design. This approach involves studying biological structures and processes and translating them into architectural solutions that promote sustainability and efficiency.

The design also incorporates the sup and sub structure, focusing on the structural elements that provide support and stability to the overall project. This includes considerations for load-bearing systems, materials, and construction techniques.

Axonometric views are utilized to showcase the project from different angles, providing a comprehensive understanding of the spatial arrangement and overall design composition. These views help convey the architectural concept and highlight the key features of the project.

Spatial compositions and configurations are carefully developed to create functional and visually appealing spaces within the project. The arrangement of rooms, circulation paths, and outdoor areas is optimized to ensure efficient use of space and create a harmonious environment.

Visualizations, including renderings and simulations, are employed to communicate the design intent and help stakeholders visualize the project in its completed state. These visual representations bring the project to life, allowing viewers to understand and appreciate its aesthetic and functional qualities.

Technical information

In this project, the construction consists of 80% timber and 20% a combination of other materials such as recycled concrete or steel. This careful and sustainable proportion of materials ensures a strong and durable structure.

For the project's roofing, we have used polycarbonate materials. Polycarbonate is an excellent choice for this application as it offers properties of transparency and resistance to pollution, while allowing natural light to shine through. The use of this material provides a bright and appealing environment for the project's users, creating a unique and modern atmosphere.
