Project idea

The project in Starigrad was conceived according to the main characteristic of the location, which is its terrain. The steep terrain represents a great challenge, but it also offers many possibilities and opens up new ideas, so my idea was to cut into the terrain with walls of different heights, with the help of which paths are made for users. The paths were formed in such a way that they follow the slope and isohypses, and on the basis of the paths, other content was created that fills the location.
The goal of the project is to revive this location throughout the year and to bring the citizens some advantages for living in that city, because it is necessary to revive this space and use it to the maximum, but at the same time it is necessary to preserve the nature that exists there and to create it in that place a small oasis by the sea.

Project description

The paths extend over the entire location and lead users from the main road, all the way to the sea and the marina.
The marina is arranged as simply as possible, so that ships can sail easily and simply, while on the main setalist next to the marina there are cafes and restaurants, and there is also an office for renting boats and other catering facilities. Right next to the marina, there are villas, whose terraces offer a view of the sea and nature, and thanks to the walls, they have kept their privacy.
The commercial center is the main content of this location, because there is an open-air playground, a space where people can leave their children and enjoy their vacation without much worry while the children learn various interesting things in nature. Based on the analysis of the location and the very famous Staklenica national park nearby, the idea is to actually learn about the national park and its characteristics there, and at the same time revive education that is not so developed in this city.

Technical information

Regarding the construction of the buildings, it is a reinforced concrete construction with a span of 10-15m.
The glass surfaces occupy a large part of the facade facing the sea, because the rear part of the buildings is buried and the only light they receive is from that side. When it comes to materialization, the buildings are made of stone with large glass windows, while the interior rooms are lined with wood and light, gentle colors.
