THE SELF-SUFFICIENT AIRPORT PROJECT

Project idea

As we become increasingly aware of the importance of environmental issues, there is one area of our lives in which sustainability is now more crucial than ever. We designed the airport(term project) to exist in harmony with nature It’s a beautifully executed, warm, and interactive facility that serves to increase community wellness. .The problem the project is facing that's Yemen is one developing country in vulnerable situation adopt to these climate changes.The idea is to create the right sustainable Archetype that made to solve real problems&crises. The design submit the honest sustainable archetype witch will help to get thought these crises and meeting the needs of the present with respect the natural.
elements this project like species of organisms arise through the natural selection. The environment has a critical role in forming the project and the designer's occupation is a response to the context. The result is a natural and original design that grows without hurting the landscape but with living organism growth by native character

Project description


renewable energy
Solar panel arrays cover all the roofs and high-efficiency LED lighting help to reduce energy consumption so the airport powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

The 4d design
We pay a lot of attention to time and divided the design into phases that arise and develop with the population growth and the exchange of the life-ages requirements.

Carbon emission
Inside the campus, there is bus station that will encourage occupants to use it and reducing the vehicles movement. The indoor waterfall created by using natural sources to create entertainment and social activities for outsiders that can be reached by the public transport (bus station).. in the lower floors there is the parking area can't be seen on propose to decrease the vehicle's needs

Storm water management
The site and the building are placed carefully in the right position that doesn't negatively impact the water cycle. The slope has an important role in the success of the process irrigation, and reuse water irrigation interspersing the method from terrace farming in the region. The green rows graduate down so overflow goes into rainwater storage in the middle to ensure water balance others go to groundwater. The overflow water on the rainwater storage goes up into gate's roofs by pump to springing water pass the solar panels to give the best thermal comfort as well decreased the temperature of the building.

Nature Ventilation
cool air enters from below and rises as it is heated. The heated air is allowed to go outside through upper openings and skylight(sky vent). The nature ventilation units was choose each side opposite up and down to rises hot air and intake outside cool air.
