Project idea

Beirut Is a city with a lot of problems such as insufficient public and green space, severe pollution and the memory of exposion disaster. PORtOUS CITY starts from the reflection of current situation to re-imagine the relationship between life and production, city and nature, as well as history and future. The design concept proposes a new city model which integrates the old, vernacular and humanized city with the productive, post-disaster and vacant port. In the design, we generated a distorted urban grids from the current urban morphology to bridge life and production, creating a symbiotic industrial layout. The green spine intervents more public and green space fro the citizens to integrate city and nature for the potential sustainability.
