Project idea

The idea of the airport is inspired by the wing of the bird. The bird's wing played an important role in inspiring the inventors of the plane. The streamlined shape of the plane greatly helped in flight. This design was transformed into an organic and streamlined approach.

Project description

This airport has been designed to accommodate the increasing number of passengers by air, therefore Sanaa Airport, with its new design, will keep pace with the requirements of civil aviation for transportation to become a link between African and Asian countries, as a transit station for travelers between Asia and Africa. In addition to its local importance in Yemen, it is hoped that the train station that connects Yemeni cities and the capital will reach the nearest point around the airport, which will give the airport additional importance at the local and regional levels. Environmental concerns were taken into account during the design through the use of natural light and renewable energy using the solar energy system on the airport building and parking.

Technical information

Several techniques were used in the project. First, the technology of collecting renewable energy. Solar collectors were used on the roof of the building, car parks, and the exploitation of empty land using the solar energy system.. to reduce dependence on fossil energy.. And the use of the steel structure space frame .. and concrete veneer GRC in the ceilings
