Project idea

The idea of the design is to design simple, functional apartment house into the area of Smíchov in Prague, near Smíchovské nádraží.

Project description

Bytový dům na Plzeňce is located in Prague
- Smichov, between two other houses, in the street na Plzeňce.
The apartment building has 8 floors, a total of 26 apartments
of sizes 1 + kk to 3 + 1, with commercial
space on the ground floor. Entrance to the residential part,
commercial space, and the entrance to the common
garage is from the north side, from Na Plzeňce street.
The street facade is articulated by frames supporting
the verticality of the house, which is typical of the surrounding
of the building. The same principle is used on the southern façade
towards the courtyard. In order to support the principle
of vertical frames, some terraces are recessed
and set off by the darker colour of the plastering.

Technical information

The construction is a brick house with prefab ceilings and stairs.

Wooden
elements on the south façade serve to screen the residential
spaces, the shading elements on the street facade are projected
into the cladding of the recessed parts between the frames.
On the south façade, the railings are aluminium and
the same as on the street façade is made of mesh.
The shared garages are at 1st floor level, this provides
the residents of the 2nd floor the possibility of a terrace with
greenery to the courtyard. The receding last
floor has a roof on the north side
membrane structure. The cornices that have been created
horizontal frames are planted with grass.
