Project idea

Bishwa Shahitto Kendro is a well known non-profit organization of our country which works to encourage reading habits, insight and advanced ideas among students and common citizens with a belief that is “We want enlightened humans”. It inspires people to nurture their intellect and their curious soul through the acknowledgement of significant books of our country and the world. Also vision is to promote admiration for our own culture by sharing and uplifting values and norms. To accomplish the notion it laid foundation with library and also organizes events where thoughtful rational conversation and other creative activities take place. Now-a-days people are more connected to each other through internet. But the digital environment promotes a perceptual experience that supplicates isolation from the public realm at present whereas physical environment correlates people with cultural senses. Less interaction in the city builds up resistance in human interaction. The presence of both digital and physical environment can be taken to advantage to regenerate intercommunication in the public realm. Keeping in mind the desire of this project evolves to create such a space which can develop enlightened and culturally sensitive citizens by promoting awareness through reading programs and discussions in both digital and physical urban environments. The goal is to engage people of all groups in a communal space and as a consequence in the process strengthen the society through sharing and education.

The aim of this project is to achieve a cultural complex to establish face-to-face communication of the citizens, particularly the dwellers in and around Gandaria and universal idea-sharing through association and acquaintance with the world-wide cultural scene. The cultural complex will also act as the platform for students and people of the Gandaria to welcome the global culture and creative achievements in literature, music and performing arts.
• To help young people as well as the whole nation to make a tremendous progress in the race of globalization
• To increase potential strength in knowledge, realization and productive participation
• To evolve as a better human being with inventive and logical mind.
• A platform to bring people together and to represent art, education and other issues.
• To increase the interest of learning process through both reading and surfing internet, so that new generation can easily approach the modern era of technology.
• Last of all, to add a new dimension in the context of the city.

Project description

In the world of high-tech technology people, reading books habit is gone. In my project bishsho shahittow cultural complex , I will design magnetic spaces to attract people to the library. In Bangladesh 57% percent of people are youth. In the youth generation of people in Dhaka, magnetic spaces like cafés, and gathering spaces attract them most. During the public holiday, people’s main attraction is to go these places. My main goal is to design such attractive spaces so that people one day by going these spaces creates interest in going to the library which will create their habit of reading.
And children who are young who are fond of playing space. I have created story-telling spaces and children’s play spaces that attract children to come to this complex
