Project idea

Many have tried making railways in Yemen; however, it does not have any railways till now. Due to the current situations in Yemen, a lot of problems have appeared and one of the most important problems is public transportation. It became very hard to travel from a city to a city or from a city to another country, so Caltex railway station will be the first railway station in Yemen which will be a starting point to help decreasing this issue.
Where the project is in the middle of coastal cities in Yemen and it will connect all coastal cities with each other and with the neighbouring countries like Saudi Arabia and Oman and in the future, it could be extended to more countries. The project will develop the transportation in Yemen and ease moving from city to city with low costs and more comfort.
It will provide services to the community, administrative, social and cultural services such as opportunities to new various careers in Yemen, and public services like shops, a hotel, and galleries. It will be a central formation of modernity and ideas of progress, and will be special mark for the country.
The project planned and Designed with Scheduling and Phasing in Mind with Respect the local landscape and climate considerations. It is Compatible with regional and local styles, it designed with a balanced and integrated approach to all the design objectives, including accessibility, and it applied aesthetic principles.

Project description

The project settled on a flat land (252000m2) which leads to ease of its implementation and establish the railway. It contains two buildings, and they are connected with corridors. The main building (24900 m2 ) has 5 floors and a basement ; the basement has carparking and a part of parcels area; the ground floor has galleries, international and local arrival halls and the outside garden; the first floor has the platform of trains and the main part of parcels area, administration,




and retail shops; the second floor has administration and retail shops; the third floor has the main lobby, international and local departure halls, a part of parcels area, and retail shops; and the fourth floor has restaurants and retails shops related to departure halls.
The small building (the entertaining building-(8950 m2)) has 3 floors and a basement and a roof; the basement is connected to basement on the main building that has carparking; the ground floor has the outside garden; the first floor and second floor have the hotel, administration, restaurants, and cafes, and in the third floor there is the roof.

Technical information

The project will Provide Comfortable (physical and psychological comfort) and safety Environments including building elements such as air distribution, lighting, workspaces, systems, and technology. Also, it will provide sustainable goals such as, Optimize Site Potential, Optimize Energy Use like using maglev trains, Optimize Building Space and Material Use, and Enhance Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ).


The structure that used is prestressed waffle slab with concrete columns and space trusses with light weight concrete covering on the ceiling. The elevations style is inspired from traditional building in Aden and it is designed with taking into account the climate.
