Project idea

Berlin is a city with a complicated past , from the ravages of World War II to the division of the city by the infamous Berlin Wall from 1961 to -1989 . Despite being one of the most exciting and vibrant cities in Europe , Berlin is severely lacking in affordable housing , making it less accessible to live in than many of its smaller counterparts across Germany . So the main idea of the project was to provide Berlin city an affordable housing that is peaceful enough to be a Home.

Project description

RUHE is a 16.500 sq. meter affordable housing project in Berlin city.
The project is aiming for people to communicate with each other in peacefulness.
The building has modern materials inside and out, and
deliberately breaks from traditional residential materials and design.
We wanted the housing project to be filled with sun & light, to bring joy into lifes.

Technical information

The project has a facade system for energy efficient warmth in winter and cool in summer , brick combines perfectly with passive building design to harness natural sources of energy . The natural density and thermal insulating qualities of clay moderate building temperature and reduce energy consumption rates , to provide year round comfort and savings .
