Project idea

our main idea of re_designing beirut port is THE UNITY

Project description

The name of the "Beirut pulse" project was inspired by the fact that the country is going through a very difficult economic and political crisis. So the emphasis was placed on making the port a centre of attraction for foreign investments, which would revive the city’s economy. Therefore, the port would become the beating heart of the relapsed city.

Our proposal is divided into three main areas: the tourist area (left), the financial district area (center), and the port area (right). all around a central park.

The first two areas of the project are connected by a pedestrian bridge to ease the movement of people in the port and to separate car traffic paths from pedestrian paths.

We found that Beirut city is suffering from a lack of green areas and we tried to solve this problem by designing a central park in the port.

Technical information

In the re-design process, we separated the storage areas from the rest of the port to prevent disasters from happening again.
The space used in the new design areas has been replaced by an additional storage area on the right (extension part).
Nearly 7,000 tonnes of glass and metal were shattered when a deadly explosion ripped through Beirut. So we tried to focus on using mainly recycled materials in our buildings, like glass, stone, and metal.
