Project idea

The explosion has so many economical impacts on the port
It effected 163 public and private schools and rendered half of Beirut’s healthcare centers nonfunctional, and it impacted 56 percent of the private businesses in Beirut. And 218 people died in this accident
We decided to fill the economic gap by making the port a commercial and industrial , business area
The concept goes through a modular system ,
And a metal surface is growing from the ground and interacting with the cubes , the surface is producing some semi open areas that can be used as commercial open areas
And it is protecting the buildings underneath.

Project description

The site rotates relative to the whole city. It rotates about a few degrees to the northeast
The concept goes through a modular system ,
The city has topography and there are a series of buildings that are located on this topography and have a direct view of the site
This topography that the city has means a series of buildings that are tall and short with different sky lines.
we have these buildings and these different horizons that bring a series of forces or power into the site. On the other hand, we had an explosion that the wave affected part of the city, so these two factors are in front of each other
 we have this wave that has entered the site city, which we have shown as a dashed, line, and to the radial shape affect both the whole site and part of the city.
At the point where we showed that the border is between the site and the city, we said we can have a memorial monument, a memorial monument that is the border between the site and the city and connects the city to the site we have, and now this monument can have useful functions.
Now, if we consider this line of skies and look at them as a surface, it has started from the top and from the edge of the site and has taken the whole site in different ways, and they can be full or empty.
if we bring the surfaces that we have into the site, this is the point where the explosion occurred, this explosion wave is in the form of an effect in these surfaces, which are in the form of a surface and below them is volume, and they are suspended.
It starts from that point and then we have a memorial monument that enters the area with a series of plates, and when they reach the point of explosion, it is as we have a vacuum that has been created and these plates have been broken under the explosion in a series of different upward angles.
This is the existing site. And this edge is the same edge as the memorial point; we have such pages or surfaces that are framed in which the tree came out. The number of people killed in this incident was 200, now we put 200 pages in this edge. This has several properties, visually and acoustically creating a distance and acting as a wall to the site and the city because it is likely to happen again.
And here we have the existing building that we want to keep because it is a memorial monument
Eventually the pages go up and down causing a sea breeze to circulate inside the site and the light to be distributed evenly
And a metal surface is growing from the ground and interacting with the cubes , the surface is producing some semi open areas that can be used as commercial open areas
And it is protecting the buildings underneath.
The planning is according to function
the public areas are closer to the city and the industrial parts Are closer to the sea.
There are some surfaces being used as a shelter in the industrial part
And there are 218 trees planted in this surfaces for the memories of the people died.

Technical information

The project is consisted of concrete cubes integrated with each other and there is a metal surface covering the cubes and making a contrast in this project
