Project idea

An experimental project focused on the idea of designing an axis point that help children and young adults to learn the beauty of art and science in a single domain.

The site is located in Kota Bahru, Kelantan, Malaysia. Kota Bahru is one of the major cities in Malaysia that still lacks the advancement in technology in variety of different aspects. The project serves as the catalyst to introduce and open the eyes of the younger generation of the people in Kota Bahru city to experience the future through art and science.

The design is focused on educating the visitors using unique activities that focused on making art through the usage of magnetic fluid called the ferrofluid.

Project description

The Sentient is the concept initial idea of the art and science axis point. The whole design language was derived from the properties and component of the ferrofluid. The aim of the design is to introduces the concept of ferrofluid and advancement of technology of science to create artistic piece.

The Delirium is a reimagination of The Sentient into a functional building. The project also dives into the translation of ferrofluid pattern into an architectural language to derived the form. The earlier concept Mainly it focused on the interior and unique activities, designing each spaces to cater towards specific activities.

The project also focuses on introducing new technology and design language to the Kota Bahru city. Becoming a catalyst in starting an advancement of technology.

Technical information

The main component structure being used in this project are space frame construction and post and beam construction. The external layer are made out of custom silver façade panels that creates and iridescent effects when shine under the sun.
