Project idea

It is located around of
important urban public spaces (squares)
and the main development axes connect the
downtown with its other parts.

The goal is get a representative STU center in Bratislava, which must include educational, social and multipurpose spaces. Also, interiors and exteriors leisure spaces, as part of the rectory and work places.

Project description

The connections project is focused on favorably translating the variants that make the University Campus of Bratislava no longer efficiently.

Mainly, We are trying to generate
a functional fluidity with the immediate environment to invite the habitants and / or visitors to a new way of conceiving a university.

The project mixes educational, social and multipurpose spaces. Also, interiors and exteriors leisure spaces, following a contemporary style, understanding the current times, combining it with the existing history and generating functional and styles connection between new and old.
We started from the premise of something volumetric simple, hoping that the place magic begins to be perceived on the route, thanks to the spatial wealth, generated by the game of heights and the use of architectural resources such as walkways, loose circulation cores, mobile interior enclosures and glass, the which works as a tool to make the limits stop, in a way, conceive of themselves as such.
The difference in the heights level across the land is another of the strengths of this project. In one way, through a square stepped worked with curves will connect the different points of the set generating a great spatial fluidity without virtual barriers (sudden level changes), and also a functional flexibility space that would allow you to enjoy these spaces in a different way.

The fluidity that exists on the ground floor also occurs in the
subsoil through a connection of activities, culminating in a underground parking under the square just mentioned, returning attractive all points of the project.

The focus is taking advantage of wasted places, and as a result of this, the back of the existing amphitheaters is used as containment
to achieve a street-walk that serves as a large central space and can contain there the vertical circulations, represented by stairs that, together with the elevator cores, they are the way to go through the five levels that make up the new building (basement, ground floor and 3 levels superiors) and form the heart of the project.

These circulations are complemented with walkways that allow us to do the tour horizontal, which in one of the cases, makes possible the connection with the ceiling of existing amphitheaters.

To finish the project, We designed an enveloping to achive the esthetic and environmental function, taking into account the wheater of the place.

The building enveloping is materialized with an aluminum wall profile curtain with thermal break next to DVH type glass, the exterior of the enclosure will have a metallic micro perforated painted skin.
